Gas for Climate
Utilities
A consortium of 13 leading European gas transport companies and renewable gas industry associations.
About us
‘Gas for Climate: a path to 2050’ is a group of eleven leading European gas transport companies (DESFA, Enagás, Energinet, Fluxys, Gasunie, GRTgaz, Nordion, ONTRAS, Open Grid Europe, Snam, and Teréga) and three renewable gas industry associations (Consorzio Italiano Biogas, European Biogas Association and German Biogas Association). Gas for Climate is committed to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in the EU by 2050 and we are united in our conviction that renewable and low carbon gas used through existing gas infrastructure will help to deliver this at the lowest possible costs and maximum benefits for the European economy.

Gas for Climate is very proud of what has already been achieved regarding renewable gasses in the last year. Today we published a position paper that outlines the work we have been doing over the past years, as well as some actions that further enable acceleration and scale-up of renewable and low-carbon gases . 🎤 We are happy to welcome Dr. Uwe Remme (Head of Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels at International Energy Agency (IEA)) as a guest speaker for our upcoming webinar on Market State & Trends in renewable and low-carbon gases in Europe. Dr. Uwe Remme is Head of the Hydrogen and Alternative Fuels Unit in the Energy Technology Policy Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA). His team is responsible for the analysis of the current trends and future prospects for hydrogen and biofuels. Before his current assignment, he led the energy supply analysis and modelling within the Energy Technology Perspectives and contributed as lead author to various IEA publications. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), low-emission fuels comprising liquid and gaseous biofuels, hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels play an important role in decarbonising parts of the energy system. More rapid roll-out of low-emission fuel production and distribution is needed in order to meet 2030 net-zero scenarios. 👉 Register to the webinar: https://lnkd.in/e8YQz8Df

📢 Today, the Gas for Climate consortium launches a new study on the positive impact of #CCUS and best practices to accelerate the deployment of CCUS infrastructure. Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies are experiencing a new political momentum and are an indispensable tool (and in some cases the only tool, specifically in hard-to-abate sectors) in reaching the EU goal of #climate neutrality by 2050. The EU has clearly outlined paths to climate neutrality which include large-scale industrial CCUS, thereby underlining the importance of facilitating a rapid and efficient scale-up of the CCUS value chain. This paper assesses best short- and long-term practices associated with CCUS deployment while providing a holistic overview of the current #policy and regulatory landscape related to CCUS across Europe. 📚 Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gE6kn_8 #GasforClimate #carbon #carbonemissions #climatesolutions #policy #EU #netzero #decarbonization #energytransition #insfrastructure #webinar
