Kelvin Sampson Court
Kelvin Sampson Court, located in the HPER Complex, is home to volleyball and men's and women's basketball teams at Montana Tech. Remodeled in 2007, Kelvin Sampson Court has 360 degree seating and holds 2,000 fans for athletic events.

The remodel came from a generous donation by former Tech men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. Coaching from 1981-85, Sampson left a lasting impression on Tech that carries through with his namesake on the court. Sampson has a rich coaching history starting in Butte. After taking his first head coaching job with the Orediggers, Sampson went on to coach at Washington State University, University of Oklahoma and Indiana University. While at the University of Oklahoma, Sampson was the national coach of the year while taking his team to the NCAA Final Four. Sampson became the assistant coach at the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA in 2008 and was an assistant coach with the Houston Rockets from 2011-14. He is currently the head men's basketball coach for NCAA Division I University of Houston Cougars.

At Tech, Sampson is known for turning the program into a perennial winner during his tenure. Previously, Tech had only won 17 games in three years. Sampson coached three consecutive 22-win seasons and three Frontier Conference Championships before leaving for Washington State. He was named Frontier Coach of the Year in 1983 and '85.

In addition to athletic events, Kelvin Sampson Court is used for numerous events throughout the year. Some of the events include concerts, graduations, fundraisers, community events, career and college fairs.
