JOLIET, IL — Authorities are warning the population of most of northeastern Illinois, including Joliet, of an excessive heat watch issued throughout the region. Temperatures upwards of 100 degrees plus humidity make for dangerously high temperatures.

The National Weather Service's Chicago branch says the highest temperatures in the area will be 95 to 100 degrees. The excessive heat watch runs Thursday through Saturday.

The heat index, which takes into account humidity, makes it feel even hotter. Chicago and suburbs, including Joliet, will see heat indexes of 102 to 113 degrees.
