Joliet Roads Getting Bad, City Plows Out: O'Dekirk

Mayor Bob O'Dekirk issued a statement shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday night.

JOLIET, IL - Shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, by the time most of Joliet's schools had called off school for Monday morning, Mayor Bob O'Dekirk issued a statement informing people about the city's efforts to plow the city's streets. The blizzard-like conditions were well underway across Joliet at the time of the mayor's announcement posted on Facebook.

"All the drivers were called in at 6 p.m. tonight and currently out on the roads plowing," the mayor said. "I took a quick drive around the city and saw the plows on our main roads.

"They will continue until it stops snowing. With the temperature dropping we should all assume that the streets will most likely be slick tomorrow morning so please give yourself time and drive careful."
