Suffolk Man Critically Injured In 3-Vehicle Crash On CR 83: Police

He had been stopped in his Nissan Maxima when it was rear-ended on County Road 83, Suffolk police said.

MOUNT SINAI, NY — A man was critically in injured in a chain reaction crash with three-vehicles in Mount Sinai on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

The 77-year-old Coram man was stopped in traffic in a 2022 Nissan Maxima southbound on County Road 83, near Canal Road, when the car was struck from behind by a 2022 Chevrolet Cruz being driven by a 37-year-old Ridge man at around 3:40 p.m., according to police.

The Maximo then struck a 2018 Honda Pilot, which was driven by a 68-year-old Mount Sinai man, and was stopped in front of the Nissan, police said.

The Coram man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

No one else was injured in the crash, police said.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks, according to police.
