The Eras Tour | Midnights section | Version 3

Zuhair Murad couture custom

From the colour, the neckline, the swooping cutouts, and the fringe - you’d be forgiven if you blinked and thought you were transported to August 26, 2015 when Taylor wore a strikingly similar bodysuit by Yousef Al Jasmi on the 1989 Tour at the then fifth and final night of dates at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Knowing what we know now given the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) of it all - perhaps we should have seen its announcement coming.

The beadwork and embellishments on this particular bodysuit are so intricate. Where the other two bodysuits rely on spangles and sequins, the raised starry-sky crystal embellishments on both the bodysuit and its nude illusion mesh at its base create such lovely movement that truly feels more akin to looking up at an expanse of cosmic sky. Also nice to see a matchy matchy new garter as well.

I wouldn’t have minded a more clearly defined organic shape for the illusion mesh on her torso (the similarity to a sequinned six pack is strong here) but I love this neckline and the cheekier cut on this particular bodysuit.

The Eras Tour | Speak Now Section | Version 5

Nicole + Felicia Couture custom

Of course, what better way to honour Speak Now TV release weekend than a new and incredibly purple dress for what we can actually call a Speak Now ‘set’ thanks to Taylor surprising the crowd with fan favourite “Long Live” played on her heartwarmingly nostalgic Taylor Guitars koi fish 6-string she played every night on the Speak Now Tour.

The ombré sparkly multi layered tier confection here really is giving gown shaped like a pastry. It’s subtle, but I do like the accent details at the waist that add a little something of interest and also extra definition to give that voluminous skirt extra oomph.

And please don’t think it escaped my notice that this gown has three tiers.

It’s a dress worthy of Speak Now’s penchant for pageantry and romantic whimsy. I’m still partial to Version 1 but love seeing the “Enchanted” dress continue to rack up new versions.

The Eras Tour | Fearless Section | Version 3

Roberto Cavalli custom

On Night 2 at MetLife, Taylor introduced a new silver version of her Fearless Version 2 dress which she also wore to Night 3.

Catbird NYC x Phoebe Bridgers ‘Give You the Moon Charm’ - $398.00
Catbird NYC 'Swimming Pool Chain’ - $498.00

On Phoebe’s final night opening for the Eras Tour, Taylor paid homage to her by wearing a necklace she designed for Brooklyn-based brand Catbird NYC.

It was so touching seeing how emotional the two of them got in person at the show and this was such a sweet way to honour Phoebe’s presence on the tour and her last moments as opener.

The Eras Tour | evermore Section | Version 2

Etro custom

For those begging for a fresh version of the evermore dress (which is one of two ensembles from the tour that has yet to receive a variation) - you’ll be delighted to know a new Marco de Vincenzo for Etro gown was brought to life at MetLife Night 1.

I love that this burgundy fil coupé dress has ruffled tiers that still speak to the original version of the dress while still having its own original elements like a flowier empire waist. This version feels more appropriate to some of the witch-like woodsy elements of evermore (and, dare I say, a tinsel-like vibe that feels seasonally appropriate to “tis the damn season”?) perhaps better than the original version which leans more street style-friendly in comparison to her other costuming.

The Eras Tour | Speak Now Section (“Enchanted”) | Version 4

Elie Saab Fall 2020 Couture

The removal of the feathery appliqué as seen in the lookbook photos was totally the right call here. In terms of silhouette and graduating ‘starburst’ quality of appliqués from the torso this squared off neck and embellished design reminds me most of the V2 Zuhair Murad gown - but made much lighter and frothier and more similar to the original Speak Now Tour Valentino gown thanks to layers and layers of fluffy, ethereal tulle.

Of the four variations of the “Enchanted” dress we have seen, this also brings designer contributor to 2 of 4 with another pull from Elie Saab - a fashion house that Taylor has turned to for many red carpet looks over the years.

The Eras Tour | Lover Section | Version 3

Versace bodysuit

The colours and new ombré boots? 13/10.

The exaggerated fringe-y tassels? Less so.

But these Versace bodysuits are truly a work of art - just wish we had stopped while we were ahead.

The Eras Tour | Lover Section | Version 3

Versace ‘Crystal Butterflies Chain Necklace’ - $2,250.00

As is befitting of a new Lover bodysuit, Taylor accessorized with a new Versace necklace to match. This one, a co-design collaboration with Versace ambassador Dua Lipa.

I love the colours on this and its interplay with the purple embellishments on her Versace bodysuit. The butterfly motif is a classic nod to the heyday of Versace’s 90s supermodel era - while also referencing her recent #unbothered outing featuring an embellished butterfly on her jeans.

Not only do we all get to benefit from Taylor in orange, but it’s also incredibly charming she chose to debut this colour in Florida - a state known for the fruit.

The Eras Tour | folklore Section | Version 4

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2023 custom

I don’t think I have to expand to anyone which folklore dress is my favourite now. Taylor wears a (say it with me now) greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen version of this SS23 Alberta Ferretti moment. And it is glorious and wood nymph fairy goddess-worthy of a folklore set.

I really enjoy the addition of the cape so that it slideshows more neatly with the other folklore gowns.

The Eras Tour | Speak Now Section (“Enchanted”) | Version 3

Elie Saab Couture Fall/Winter 2022

For years, I’ve felt myself longing and dreaming of a tour filled with costumes ripped straight from runways. Custom costumes are great and serve a function and a purpose. But nothing hits like couture. In every sense, the Eras Tour feels like a culmination of dreams and fantasies and joy and a career that doesn’t seem like it’s ever truly going to peak. She feels like she’s stretching herself comfortably and confidently into the ever-expanding space her star power is taking up - and it’s a truly beautiful thing to watch her unfurl every night on that stage.

This Elie Saab gown is a big shift from the larger ballgowns she’s worn previously for “Enchanted” - a little more fitted through the waist and bottom. That scooped bateau neck also reminds me of another recent near-off shoulder moment we’ve seen. And what a choice to wear sleeves … in Florida!

I feel of the three “Enchanted” dresses we’ve seen thus far, this one is going to be a bit of a marmite. I personally really like the textured appliqués and beading.

The Eras Tour | Acoustic section

Taylor Guitars ‘Grand Auditorium Custom Guitar’

This particular guitar I’ve talked about a lot over the years and is the most nostalgic in Taylor’s guitar collection. While this is a new version of it (you can tell by the application of the wood on the guitar’s face), Taylor retained all the signature customizations she made to the koa wood series she owned as a teenager that make it very distinctive as hers including the byzantine inlays on the neck and a Florentine cutaway.

The Eras Tour | folklore section

Gibson ‘Hummingbird Acoustic Guitar’ - $3,999.00

During her folklore set, Taylor pulls out one of Gibson’s most distinctive styles - the Hummingbird which is easily recognizable by its graphic pickguard. While she’s had this one in her guitar arsenal since 2012, it doesn’t make many appearances.

The Eras Tour | Lover section | Version 2

Versace custom

Between the two sequinned blazer moments Taylor opts for when singing “The Man”, my preference is actually for V2 at the moment. The pinstripes allude to classic business attire but the sparkles make it perfect for stage. The interplay between her ombré Louboutins also nicely tie in to the gold hardware on her jacket.

Worn with: Christian Louboutin boots
