Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian's feud is reignited by National Snake Day - eight years after THAT original tweet

Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian's feud has been reignited, with fans flooding social media with savage tweets eight years after Kim's now-infamous jibe.

The annual National Snake Day falls on July 16 each year - but it means something completely different to Swifties.

Eight years ago, reality star Kim, 43, sparked a social media firestorm when she famously hit out at Taylor, 34, by tweeting: 'Wait it's legit National Snake Day?!?!? They have holidays for everybody, I mean everything these days!'

Kim and Kanye famously fell out with the musician in 2017 over lyrics in the rapper's Famous track, in which he referred to the singer as a 'b***h*' - which West claimed Taylor had approved, yet she denied.

At the time, keen on proving his point in the feud, Kim shared footage of her then-spouse talking to the singer about his single Famous - in which he also said that he and the singer might have sex.

The shared clip led to a huge social media outcry, with Taylor's Instagram and Twitter account being bombarded with snake emojis.

However, things took a turn when the singer famously reclaimed the image of the snake that was used against her and made a sensational return with her track Look What You Made Me Do.

Most of the pop icon's next album Reputation, released in 2017, was aimed at her experience during the ordeal, and included lots of snake-themed imagery.

In the song, and its accompanying video, the star took aim at the trolls who had furiously branded her a 'snake' after Kim's phone call leak.

One clip from the video shows Taylor sitting on a throne surrounded by snakes, a pointed dig at Kim and Kanye.

Now, following the release of Taylor's 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which took aim at Kim in the song ThanK You AIMee, National Snake Day is causing a stir online.

Fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reference the historic feud and guess that it could even be the perfect occasion for the singer to release her re-recording of the Reputation album: 'Happy National Snake Day.'

'Rep TV'; 'REP TV ANNOUNCEMENT??'; 'Our favourite day.'

'Happy National Snake Day to all those who celebrate.'

'Happy National snake day my favorite day of the yearrrrrr!!!'

'It's International Snake Day so never forget how Kim lied and called Taylor Swift a snake so she brought out a 172-by-40-foot snake every night on tour and then made millions from the tour.'

'Silence from Taylor and Taylor Nation after releasing I can do it with a broken heart as a single on national snake day. Something is coming.'

'Rep is coming.'

'No because why did Taylor randomly release icdiwabh as a single with no promotion on national snake day…I’m scared.'

'Happy National snake day to you @KimKardashian.'

Following Kim's initial tweet eight years ago, things seemed to settle down between the pair and Kim claimed in 2019 on Watch What Happens Live that the trio had 'moved on' from the dispute.

That wasn't how the Blank Space singer saw it and she later said in an interview with ELLE magazine that 'it would be nice if we could get an apology from people who 'bully' us.

'But maybe all I'll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it,' she added.

Although Taylor's career has never been better or higher profile than in the last few years, she complained in her 2023 TIME Person of the Year profile that the dispute 'took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.'

Taylor added that her distress made her move 'to a foreign country' in the aftermath.

'I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore,' she recalled. 'I went down really, really hard.'

The longstanding feud was first reignited when Taylor's newest album dropped in April.

It featured a song titled Thank You Aimee — stylized as 'thanK you aIMee,' spelling out Kim in capital letter — which fans took to refer to Kardashian due to their previous feuding.

But a source told People that Kim had put the bad blood behind her - and she hopes that Taylor can learn to do the same.

'She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on,' the source said, adding that Kim 'doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on it.'

'It’s been literally years,' they emphasised.
