Civic Engagement Training

The Commission noticed a variety of critical gaps in resources on voting and advocacy, that is accessible to people who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing. Steps needed to be taken to address this disparity.

Who this impacts

  • Community advocates (and voters) who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing
  • Family advocates (and voters) of children who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing
  • Supporters (and voters) of people who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing
  • Legislators who have people who are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing in their district or come across issues who are near and dear to the community's heart

Solution

The Commission saw how important it is for concerned citizens to know how to effectively advocate for or against policy on local, state, and national policy issues and has done civic engagement work since 2001. We provide group and one-on-one training on how to meet with your legislator, on voting, and every ten years, we provide training on participating in the census.
