Don't forget to book your hotel room after you register for the conference. Online hotel reservations are preferred. Please make every effort to complete your hotel reservation online before calling.

The lodging instructions above must be followed exactly OR the search results will say no rooms available. This means the dates and Group ID are both entered correctly. Using these dates with the Group ID code is the only way to get a room reserved at the group rates for the Collaborative Experience.
If you are booking a room for 1 person – it is encouraged that you select a king room and let people sharing rooms reserve the “Breezy Inn 2 Queen”, “Breezy Center Double Double”, “Breezy Center Suite”, and “Lodge Studio Apartments” which all have two beds in each room.
The lodging block expires on 10/1/2024. Thereafter, reservations are based on availability. Rates are $109 per room, per night, plus 7.375% tax. All rooms are priced the same regardless of type for this conference.
When a reservation is made, $117.04 will be charged to your card as a deposit. This deposit is required. Our lodging policy posted on our website will apply. Guests must cancel 30 days before arrival to receive their deposit back (less a $25 cancellation fee). Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival forfeit their deposit. No shows will be charged for the entire length of their stay.

The resort does not allow pets or smoking inside. WIFI and parking is free throughout the resort.
Parent Scholarships
Greetings!
We are excited that you are interested in attending the 2024 Collaborative Experience Conference for parents of deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing children and professionals who serve them. Parents can use Parent Scholarship Application Form to apply for the scholarship.
The parent scholarship will pay for:
- Registration
- Hotel and Food
All parents of D/DB/HH children are encouraged to apply for the scholarship. There is something for everyone at the conference. If you do not fit one of the priorities listed below, your application will be placed on a wait list. If a scholarship becomes available to those on the wait list, we will contact you with a registration code. Parents on the scholarship wait list will be contacted on a first come, first serve basis.
Priority for scholarship support will be given to parents who fit at least one of the following:
- A parent of deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing children from Birth to age 8
- Parents who reside in Greater Minnesota (anywhere within Minnesota other than the 7-county Metro area)
- Parents who have not attended the Collaborative Experience Conference in the past
- Parents who are from a diverse family background
Please review the guidelines before filling out the application. There is a $25 processing fee to receive the scholarship. Once approved for scholarship, you will be asked to make a check payable to the Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing.

FAQ
Here is more information about the scholarship program.
1. What is included in the parent scholarship?
The parent scholarship includes two nights’ stay in a single occupancy room, one admission to the conference sessions and meals for Friday: Dessert Reception, Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner; Sunday: Breakfast and lunch. Mileage is not included
2. Can I bring my children?
No. There will not be child care available. Our district administrators are using their budget dollars to send professionals to this conference to learn. We need to be conscious of distractions to their learning opportunities.
3. As a parent receiving a scholarship can I receive professional development clock hours?
No, as a recipient of the parent scholarship you will not be allowed to receive professional development clock hours. You are encouraged to register as a professional if you would like to earn professional clock hours.
4. Are accommodations provided at the conference?
Yes, American Sign Language interpreters and CART will be available. ASL interpreters will be in all sessions – CART will be provided as requested in advance. Spoken language interpreters provided upon request.
5. Are there sessions that are just for parents?
Parents are welcome to attend any sessions that they would like. The only separate session is the Sunday morning breakfast discussion with Minnesota Hands and Voices.
6. What is NOT included in the parent scholarship?
- Transportation to and from Breezy Point
- Room Service and incidentals (movies, gift shop charges, etc.)
- Additional hotel nights - beyond the program dates.
- Food and beverage (beyond one parent scholarship recipient)
7. How do I apply for a scholarship?

8. Is there a fee beyond the scholarship?
Yes. When you submit your application, there will be a one-time processing fee of $25.
9. Are there any special activities planned for parents?
Yes, see the schedule below.
- Friday night: Parent welcoming session at 6 pm.
- Saturday: Parents are welcome to attend every session on the schedule.
- Sunday morning: A recap of the conference over breakfast with MN H & V staff and the parents. We have a separate breakfast area in the dining room set aside for this parent discussion group.
