Phillip Schofield shares his first selfie in more than a year since he retreated from the spotlight over affair scandal as he watches England lose to Spain

Phillip Schofield has shared his first selfie to Instagram in more than a year as he showed his support to the England football team in the Euro's 2024 final on Sunday.

The former This Morning presenter watched from the comfort of his home the Three Lions get defeated by Spain during the clash in Berlin, Germany

Phillip showed his support ahead of the game by posting a photo of himself beaming with an England flag painted on his face.

However, Spain took victory with a 2-1 win in the final leaving England fans devastated and Phillip showed his disappointment by uploading a second selfie.

The ex ITV star looked furious while sat on his sofa as he looked away from the camera with his England flag face paint half wiped off.

The snaps mark the first time Phillip has shared a photo of his face since May 2023 after he was axed from ITV when he finally admitted to having an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a much younger male colleague behind-the-scenes of This Morning.

Phillip returned to social media in May 2024, but has only shared photos of his beloved dog Alfie.

His first photo following his return showed Alfie gazing intently at the TV, with Phil writing: "Thankfully, Alfie is a big @f1 fan."

Gareth Southgate's men were unable to make history as they lost 2-1 in Berlin tonight, as the Three Lions once again missed out on glory.

Millions of fans had packed into bars and pubs in hope of seeing the England finally claim their first victory since the World Cup of 1966.

Super sub Cole Palmer had given the nation belief again after he struck a brilliant equaliser in the 73rd-minute, after going behind at the start of the second half.

It sent bars and pubs into wild celebrations, with beers launched into the air as fans sung 'it's coming come'.

But the hopes and expectations of a nation came crashing down after Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal slotted the winning goal past Jordan Pickford in the 86th minutes.

Prince William and Prince George were also stunned as the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain

Crestfallen fans were left in disbelief and holding their heads in their hands after England came agonisingly close into pushing the game into extra time.

In Berlin, Prince William and Prince George were visibly stunned as they watched from the stadium. While King Charles urged the squad to 'hold your heads high'.

The defeat echoed England's bitter loss at Euro 2020, when the squad came in as runners-up.

But in a touching message, the Prince of Wales told the team 'we're all still so proud of you' after they lost the Euro 2024 final to Spain.

William, who is the president of the FA and later presented runner-up medals to the Three Lions, said: 'It just wasn't meant to be.'

Meanwhile other A-listers including Ant and Dec, Amanda Holden and WAG Dani Dyer led the stars showing their support towards Gareth Southgate's side on social media ahead of the hopeful victory in the Euros 2024 final.
