Big Breakfast hosts Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen reunite after feud 20 years ago as they film secret new project together

Denise Van Outen has reunited with her TV partner Johnny Vaughan as she shared snaps of the pair to Instagram over the weekend as they filmed a secret new project.

The presenting pair fronted the Big Breakfast show during the 90s, yet things turned sour after Denise's relationship with Johnny, 57, broke down over a contract dispute which triggered her decision to leave the show in January 1999.

However, despite being embroiled in a 23-year pay dispute, the pair finally making up during the Covid-19 pandemic and made their first TV appearance in 20 years on Steph's Packed Lunch in June 2023.

And now it seems the duo will definitely be back on our screen soon as they teased that they were 'filming' again.

Taking to Instagram Denise, 50, shared various shots of them larking around together on the project - but did not reveal exactly what it was.

Denise also shared a clip from a First Dates skit the pair did during their time guest presenting Steph's Packed Lunch last summer.

Poking fun at the contract dispute, the camera man first asked Denise: 'It's been a while since the first date, how was it?'

A giggling Denise responded: 'It was really nice, it's lovely to see him again, he talked a lot.'

When Johnny was asked the same question, he responded: 'She talks a lot about fashion and music and things that I'm not so interested in but I think it went really well.'

Denise was then asked: 'Anything you'd like to change about him?'

She jokingly replied: 'The only thing is he talked a lot abut how he used to make more money than me, but that's fine.'

The guy behind the camera then asked: 'The breakfast date seemed to go really well, will you see each other again?'

On the count of three the pair both shouted: 'Yes!'

Speaking during the show Denise told host Steph McGovern : 'Presenting Steph's Packed Lunch next week will be me and… Johnny Vaughan.

'We speak all the time and we keep saying we need to do something together and this just feels like the perfect time for us. I can't wait, I'm so excited.

'The last time we were actually on screen together it wasn't the Big Breakfast; we did a game show called Passport to Paradise and it was 20 years ago.'

Johnny added: 'We've had Blur, there are rumours flowing about the Gallagher Brothers and now, we can now confirm, it's the big one, the 90s reunion you been waiting for … Johnny and Denise, and I can't wait.'

Steph said: 'I am so excited for this because it's the reunion we've all been wanting for like 20 years.'

The pair last hosted on TV together on the BBC1 Saturday night entertainment series, Passport to Paradise, in 2004.

A reunion between the pair was first teased in 2021, after Denise revealed the presenting duo had put their feud to bed during the Covid pandemic.

MailOnline revealed at the time that Channel 4 bosses were considering bringing back the cult show to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Denise confirmed she had already discussed ideas with her former co-host, however the plan sadly never came into fruition.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at the time, Denise said: 'We've started having conversations. It would be nice to do something to mark the 30th anniversary.

'The original house has so many great memories and it would be amazing if we could return and film there, even though it's been renovated.

'We'd want to see all the old faces return and play some of the old games too. I'm sure the fans would love it and see it as a real nostalgia trip.

'It would be so much fun working with Johnny again on show which means so much to us both.'

Last year Johnny discussed what he believed made Big Breakfast such a success in the 90s, and the 'non toxic team' behind the scenes - amid the This Morning scandal.

Discussing the show's success, which aired with the pair at the helm from 1998 to 2001, Johnny said: 'You can't just have two people doing it, as we've seen from other male-female double acts doing daytime TV who seem to get along well, you also need a non-toxic team as well'.

Speaking to The Sun he clarified that he 'wasn't having a dig at anyone' before saying that it was everyone who was working on the Big Breakfast, in front and behind the camera, 'who made it [what it was]'.

He then discussed his 'ups and downs' with pal Denise saying: 'You can only fall out with someone you really like, you don't fall out with people you don't like. And that's the way of friendship'.

'There's been a couple of ups and downs. But that's because it's a real, genuine friendship.'

The Big Breakfast, which aired between 1992 to 2002, was watched by two million viewers in its heyday and attracted some of the biggest names in showbiz as guests.
