John Torode was trolled by This Morning viewers for 'cooking' a Greek salad during Monday's show.

The MasterChef presenter, 58, set sail on a cruise around Greece and whipped up a delicious looking Greek salad for viewers at home during the latest instalment of the ITV daytime show.

However, viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to speculate whether he accidentally said the word 'spliff' instead of 'Split', before bashing him for 'cooking' a simple Greek salad.

During the show John said: 'Tomorrow we're gonna be live from Split so we'll see you there, we're gonna get off the ship, discover a little bit about spliff, Split, and then just have a nice time.'

One viewer took to X to criticise him for making a salad by saying: 'They've sent him on a cruise to make a Greek salad.'

'He's chopping veg and salad and sticking it in a bowl. Genius!'; 'Cooking' a Greek salad';

While others questioned his blunder by saying: 'Did he say "discover a little bit about Spliff?"'; 'He just say spliff?'

It comes after John and co-star Gregg Wallace, 59, addressed rumours that they were set to quit MasterChef after the show's 20th series.

The duo have been hosting the show since its 2005 relaunch and were hit by speculation that they were bowing out.

However, they joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on This Morning in April to confirm their plans to continue, much to the delight of fans of the culinary show.

When asked by Alison if they planned on quitting, John said: 'Alison stop it. Stop it... the great thing is that it is on BBC One, it is always on BBC One, it is on again tonight.'

'It is the quarter-final night, six extraordinary cooks going through to fight it out, and then we are back on now for the next seven weeks, BBC One, and of course, you can catch up on iPlayer.'

Dermot joked he was dodging the question like a politician, before Gregg confirmed: 'No, it's definitely not the last one!'
