Four people are killed in mass shooting at 'birthday pool party' Florence, Kentucky - with three more victims fighting for their lives in ICU

Four people have been killed and another three left fighting for their lives following a mass shooting in Kentucky.

Cops were called to the 2600 block of Ridgecrest Drive in Florence just before 3am.

The suspect led police on a wild chase, before turning the gun on himself. 

On arrival, police found four people dead and three other critically injured victims who were taken to the ICU at UC Hospital.

The shooting occurred during a birthday pool party, according to a local church asking for prayers for the victims.

The gunman had fled the scene by the time they arrived, but was later spotted leading to a pursuit. 

The chase ended on Dale Heimbrock Way, when the suspect crashed into a ditch.

When the cops got to his vehicle, he had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  

He was taken to St. Elizabeth where he later died. No details about his identity have been released yet.

The Florence Church of God said in a post on Facebook that the tragedy unfolded after an intruder opened fire on the birthday celebrations.

Among the victims were a mom who was fatally shot and her daughter, who was wounded, according to the post.

All the other fatalities are also understood to be adults.

A heavy police presence remains at the scene amid the ongoing investigation.

At 8am, the cops confirmed the three injured parties were in a critical but stable condition.
