Sir Ringo Starr celebrated turning 84 years old on Sunday with his wife Barbara Bach, as he hosted his annual Peace and Love birthday celebration in Los Angeles.

The Beatles star threw up his famous peace sign as he rang in his milestone birthday with his family and friends, featuring musical tributes.

The musician - whose real name is Richard Starkey - looked younger than ever, putting on a trendy display in a white denim jacket and graphic T-shirt.

Ringo added striped tracksuit bottoms and several peace sign pins, while sporting his usual tinted sunglasses.

He was joined by his wife of 43-years Barbara, 77, a model and actress best known for her starring role in James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

Joe was seen joining Ringo on the stage, as he spoke to the gathered crowd while encouraging everyone to put up double peace signs during the traditional 'Peace and Love' exclamation.

While on social media, Ringo was flooded with celebratory birthday messages from his fans and famous friends, including Beatles' bandmate Paul McCartney.

The singer, 82, took to his Instagram to share a photo of him and Ringo sitting front row at his daughter Stella's show during Paris Fashion Week in March.

Adding that it was also the birthday of his father, Paul captioned it: 'Happy birthday to Ringo and to my Dad! Hope Sir Richard Starkey has a fabulous day'.

Many of Paul's children also paid tribute to 'Uncle Ringo', including fashion designer Stella, while fellow musicians Diane Warren and Toto's Steve Lukather also made posts.

He was inducted as an inaugural recipient of the Joe Chambers Musicians Legacy Award at Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum.

Ringo, Paul, John and George Harrison rose to fame as members of iconic rock band The Beatles, going on to become the best-selling music act of all time.

Although they formed in 1960, Ringo was the last to join in 1962, replacing drummer Pete Best who is affectionately referred to as 'the fifth Beatle'.

He and Barbara met on the set of the film Caveman in 1980 and tied the knot the following year at Marylebone Town Hall.

Ringo has three children from his first marriage to Maureen Cox, who he divorced in 1975 and who then passed away after a battle with leukemia in 1994.

Through his two sons, Zak, 58, Jason, 56, and daughter Lee, 53, he has eight grandchildren and a great grandson, making him the first great grandfather Beatle.
