Sean Barton

Research Technical Lead

Dr. Sean Barton is a research technical lead for the Impact Evaluation Unit at Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB). He works with the unit to conduct impact evaluations of state-funded programs related to human services and the State’s response to the opioid epidemic. Dr. Barton’s areas of expertise are quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, research design, and scientific communication. Prior to working at MMB, he worked as a research fellow for the US Army Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground. 

Dr. Barton has Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Arizona State University, and received his Master of Science and PhD in the field of Cognitive Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he studied human behavior and motor control. He did his post-doctoral studies with the US Army Research Laboratory where he conducted research on human teamwork and artificial intelligence. In his free time he enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter, hiking, and a good cup of coffee (or three).
